Abule Egba Oil Explosion

Fire outbreak from oil spillage has left many wounded and properties worth millions of Naira destroyed on Wednesday early morning explosion in Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

As at the time of this report security agencies are yet to be ascertained if human life is lost, but that many were left injured in the explosion. Houses and vehicle were seen destroyed by the explosion.

From the account of eye witnesses, the incidence at Tipper Garage Bus Stop Abule Egba was as a result of bunkering activities came in contact with an ignitable source.


Officials of LASEMA, Lagos Fire Servicemen and other security agencies have since mobilised to the scene to combat the inferno in order to curtail further spread.

Barricaded Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Opened

The barricaded Sagamu end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has been opened for commuters. The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mr Adedamola Kuti told journalists during the opening on Tuesday that the barricaded section was opened to ease traffic during the festive period. He said, "the gridlock experienced on the road necessitated the removal of the barricades." He also noted that work will resume on the road as quickly as possible in January so the contractors could maximise the window offered by the dry season.
