NDIC Board: Ekweremadu Single Handedly Passed Keyamo

Festus Keyamo scaled the Senate hurdle, although by the personal discretional powers of the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. Keyamo was confirmed board member of Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) despite the overwhelming voices of 'nay' when his matter was put to voice vote.

Controversies over the originality of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate, delayed his screening by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, which also delayed that of other nominees of the board.

It was further learnt that the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, and other members, had subjected Keyamo to serious interrogation on the discrepancies in the state where he carried out his national youth service.

Barricaded Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Opened

The barricaded Sagamu end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has been opened for commuters. The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mr Adedamola Kuti told journalists during the opening on Tuesday that the barricaded section was opened to ease traffic during the festive period. He said, "the gridlock experienced on the road necessitated the removal of the barricades." He also noted that work will resume on the road as quickly as possible in January so the contractors could maximise the window offered by the dry season.
