President Buhari Presents 2019 Budget

The House of Representatives has began its proceeding at about 11am today. After the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, said the opening prayers, he met with the Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf; and Majority ‎Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, after which he urged those who are not lawmakers in the chamber and at the gallery to step out, and said the closed-door meeting would last only five‎ minutes.

Meanwhile, President Buhari is said to arrive 25minutes from the time lawmakers went into closed door. However, by 12noon the vice President Osinbajo and some ministers are seen arrived at the Assembly complex. President Buhari is still expected.

President Buhari has finally presented the 2019 Appropriation Bill to the joint house of the Assembly. The President noted in the budget that funds recovered from the looted tresury and that of sold properties from the proceeds of loot will be added to fund the budget.

The 2019 budget of #8.7trillion is about #400billion short of #9.12trillion that of 2018. 

Meanwhile, there was screaming of ‘no’ and unpleasantly comments from the main opposition party parliaments when the president lists his achievements.

Even as the APC parliaments tried in vain to counter the loud voices of the opposition, and when the President had to remind the lawmakers of being on live TV and therefore has to be cautious with their comments and actions. All fell to deaf ears.

Barricaded Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Opened

The barricaded Sagamu end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has been opened for commuters. The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mr Adedamola Kuti told journalists during the opening on Tuesday that the barricaded section was opened to ease traffic during the festive period. He said, "the gridlock experienced on the road necessitated the removal of the barricades." He also noted that work will resume on the road as quickly as possible in January so the contractors could maximise the window offered by the dry season.
