Bende Now Has A Tertiary Institution (Federal Polytechnic, Item)

The people of Bende LGA, Abia State have received with joy the news coming from the National assembly. The Senate on Thursday passed the Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND on Federal Polytechnic, Item, Abia State (Establishment, etc.) Bill 2018 (SB. 520).

The report of the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND on Federal Polytechnic Item Abia State (Establishment, etc) Bill 2018 (SB. 520), was presented to the upper chamber by Senator Binta Masi Garba and  seconded by Senator Shehu Sani.

The Senate dissolved into the Committee of the Whole to enable for the clause-by-clause consideration of the committee’s report. 

The Federal Polytechnic Item Abia State (Establishment, etc) Bill 2018 (SB. 520) was read for the third time and then passed as an Act of the National Assembly.

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, in his response, said, “Let me congratulate Senator Mao for sponsoring this Bill, and Senator Binta for presenting the report and all of you for considering it.

“I also want to thank you for a productive day. This is a good and high note to end the year on.

Ekweremadu added, “Passing the last Bill on education today is a great gift to our children this season.
“So, I thank you all for your cooperation and on this note, I wish you all a Merry Christmas.”

Barricaded Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Opened

The barricaded Sagamu end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has been opened for commuters. The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mr Adedamola Kuti told journalists during the opening on Tuesday that the barricaded section was opened to ease traffic during the festive period. He said, "the gridlock experienced on the road necessitated the removal of the barricades." He also noted that work will resume on the road as quickly as possible in January so the contractors could maximise the window offered by the dry season.
